States Divided About Approving Microsoft Settlement

Several states involved in the Microsoft Corp. antitrust case were prepared to reject a settlement between the Department of Justice and the company unless the software giant agreed to major changes in the accord, sources said. A few other states, including Illinois, were likely to abandon the case and sign on to the agreement, said sources close to the states' deliberations.
