At Trial, Hewlett Attorneys Ask Court to Overturn Vote
Attorneys for Walter Hewlett, son of one of the founders of Hewlett-Packard Co., urged a state court to throw out votes in favor of the company's merger with Compaq Computer Corp., arguing the companies deceived shareholders about the merits of the deal. In the first day of the trial, Hewlett's legal team said internal e-mail among executives, private journal entries and company analyses directly contradicted the consistently rosy picture of the $25 billion deal presented to the shareholders.
