Hitachi Countersues EMC in Software Patent Suit

Hitachi, the world's third-largest data storage systems provider, said it was countersuing No. 1 EMC, alleging eight of its software patents were infringed by the U.S. market leader. The Japanese electronics giant said in a statement that it filed the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma in response to EMC litigation filed in the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts alleging that Hitachi's software products infringe six EMC patents.
