Nortel Drops Some Patent Claims Against ONI Systems

Nortel Networks dropped claims related to four of five patents in an infringement lawsuit against competitor ONI Systems of San Jose, the companies said. The 2-year-old case, scheduled for trial in January in U.S. District Court in San Francisco, concerns technology for transporting data through fiber-optic networks.
