Professor Says Unbundling Windows Would Work
A computer expert challenged Microsoft Corp.'s assertion that forcing the company to remove key software from Windows would cripple the performance of the dominant operating system. Testifying in antitrust hearings, Andrew W. Appel, a professor of computer science at Princeton University, said that Microsoft already produces "modular" versions of its operating system that allow manufacturers to pick and choose applications for various devices.
