RIAA Drops Data-Related Request for Webcasting

The Recording Industry Association of America has dropped its request that the U.S. Copyright Office force Internet radio operators to collect data not required of their traditional broadcasting brethren. But privacy advocates, who've raised a ruckus over the idea, are still worried federal officials may slip the provision into a revised regulation governing subscription digital audio services.
