Attorney Argues Eavesdropping in Printout from Chat Room

If you engage in an exchange in an Internet chat room, and someone prints out a script of what was typed, is that an illegal eavesdrop? An attorney is making that argument in the case of a man accused of trying to arrange a sexual encounter after he had a chat room conversation with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
